Matty May has lived in Essex for most of his life, and until fairly recently was oblivious to many of the artists, organisations and work that was going on around him locally.

Hi Babes, This year I lead a Scottee & Friends project called ‘The Queer Wall’, based in and around Lismore Circus, focusing on queer representation, isolation and loneliness.

In 2019 we created 5 large projects, 11 small scale works, interventions and public debates! A whopping 10,110 showed up to watch stuff in 4 different countries and an estimated 750,000+ people who downloaded, streamed or watched our stuff online, on their phones or the radio!

Scottee grew up around mould, mice and clothes off the market. After a chance meeting with some posh kids, his Mum teaching him to talk proper and him successfully persuading his parents to take him off free school meals Scottee knew he didn’t want to be common.
