RISK

A QUEER PARTICIPATORY CIRCUS

RISK is a large scale circus show about queer grief, isolation, community and responsibility - using the risk the queer body is exposed to, set against the risk the circus body exposes itself to.

Kerfuffle

The first iteration of RISK, Kerfuffle, showcased a new variety confessional that invites you to sit more comfortably, take up space and let your hair down surrounded by pals.

Kerfuffle spotlit the relationship between risk in circus and the queer experience, A jukebox circus cabaret of camp classics for queers and their friends.

When your family is chosen and you each own a similar shaped experience, sometimes you’ve just got to come together and share a deep breath out.

Working with contemporary queer and/or trans* circus performers in collaboration with community organisations and their clients across the UK.

The show had its debut in 2021 as part of Circus City in Bristol.

Artists performed at The Mount Without and weaved collective stories, monologues and difficult truths alongside contemporary circus skills - rope, silks, pole, straps and more. We explored ideas of unwanted sexual attention, HIV/Aids, chems, abuse, addiction, assault, isolation, pride, gender and shams.
